Raison D'etra (Reason For Being)
Galveston Dance Club (aka "the
club") is a group of persons from Galveston County, Texas who love to
dance
and have collected together to promote/learn/teach dancing to other persons of
like mind. The club has regular meetings where members discuss and vote
on issues of interest and necessity related to the club. Notification of club meetings is via e-mail, and all current club members are
welcome. (There is generally a Pot Luck dinner after the club meeting.)

Name tags are being punched to identify paid members. DUES are $20 till Jan
then $25 per quarter or $100 per year per person, collected at next quarterly meeting in Dec.

The Club promotes:
West Coast Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing and Jitterbug, Two Step,
Triple Two Step, Salsa, Merengue, Night Club Two Step, Hustle, American Tango,
Argentine Tango, Bachata, Bolero & Samba (Soon).
Tuesday Cha cha 7-8pm,
Intermediate 2step 8-9pm. Thursday Beg/Intermediate Tango 7-8 PM and
practice 8-8:30 PM.

membership benefits below): Classes are held at the Unitarian Church 502 Church St in Galveston each
Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9
PM. Call Betty 281-337-0441 to pre-register. You may join anytime,
but remember new classes start every 3 months! First
Tuesday & Thursday night are FREE! Classes are expected to advance from beginning
to intermediate over
a three month period. Selection of the current instruction is by
membership vote. Additional and side instruction/privates are available by
personal arrangement with the instructors for a fee. MEMBERS INVITE YOUR
FRIENDS IN 2011!

Membership
Dues are $25 per quarterly starting Jan
and collected at quarterly meetings and classes.
By special arrangement, dues for members of the
Unitarian Universalistic Fellowship of Galveston County are $40 per year.
Membership Benefits:
The club meets weekly at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall at 502 Church Street, Galveston,
Texas for classes. Instruction is FREE for club members. up to 3 free classes a week plus monthly parties & yearly dinner dances. Visitors
may attend ONE free class on Tuesday & Thursday, after which they must join the club to receive
further instruction.
Instructors
Jim Gilliam
Has taught for Gal college for
many years. He has been a member of GDC for four years. He will be
teaching WCS, ECS, Jitterbug, or 2step.
Louis & Betty Whistler
Teach American Tango, Bachata, Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Merengue, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing,
Hustle, Jitterbug, Two Step,
Triple Two Step, Polka, Night Club Two, Foxtrot, Waltz, Line dances
Louis and Betty have been
teaching professionally for 23 years. They own a dance studio at
their home in Dickinson, Texas and teach various dance classes for the
Department of Continuing Education at College of the Mainland in Texas
City, Texas, Gal college, Olli/UTMB, Nessler Senior Center, Friendswood high school. They also teach
workshops at various places & perform dance exhibitions for volunteer
organizations.
Archie
Rodriguez
Teaches West Coast Swing, East
Coast Swing, Whip, Salsa, Cha, Cha, Cha and Rumba, Salsa.
Archie has been a dancer for
many years and has taught privately and in many classes. Archie is a GDC teacher and gracious helper for other dance teachers.
